‘The wine women want’ |

This year the Brisbane Fine Wine Festival, a showcase of Australian
wines and coordinated by Paula Tewksbury, announced a new trophy – ‘the
wine women want’.
Amidst the celebrations of Queensland Week a cross-section of local
women gathered at the Sofitel to conduct a blind tasting of medal
winning wines from the top 16 highest scoring gold medals scored at the
recent Brisbane Fine Wine Festival judging of 540 wines. Government,
journalists, mothers, medical professionals, winemakers, food critics,
restaurateurs and marketers - all with a passion for wine set about
this judging exercise.
The idea came from Manda Duffy, owner of Wine North and Director of
Sales & Marketing for Barambah Wines, after reading about the first
women’s wine competition in California earlier this year.
In an impressive line up of wine the top 4 revealed themselves as
the 2005 Tapestry Chardonnay, 2004 Josef Chromy Pinot/Chardonnay and
the 2005 Robert Channon Reserve Chardonnay. The 2007 winner of ‘the
wine women want’ is the 2005 Château Tanunda ‘Terroirs of the Barossa’
